What shall I talk about tonight, dear boys and girls?
In Research I'm getting stuck into finding some stuff to use for my lit review. I had a chat with Rachel about what is actually expected with this project, and I think I'm finally understanding what I have to do. It's not really that scary. She pointed me in the direction of of few articles and papers regarding my chosen topic: Story pacing in children's tv and live action. Those led me to more interesting things that I could use. Google Scholar is the best invention ever. Maybe. Maybe Kiwiyo is. Kiwiyo is the best invention ever. Someone come with me to Kiwiyo plz. I just want to introduce everyone to it. You can even get your photo taken with your Kiwiyo, if you're that way inclined. I have had four photos taken now with my Kiwiyo. I love Kiwiyo. Kiwiyo, Fuck yeah.
Media Culture all cool, bro, I showed the class the best ever amateur YouTube video, as we had to look up Frozen parodies. Not everyone did though. I think like, four people maybe. I don't understand why. It was really fun. We got talking about our project at some point and I think I'm going to stick with turning a scene from Frozen into live action slasher horror. And a western. And I don't know what the last genre will be. We have to have three. Um. Yeah.
First Aid I'm learning some stuff. Assessment's taken soon. Yip.
The Combined Project is as hectic as ever. Sooooo many script changes, oh my god. Many people wanting to change things. I'm not entirely sure what happened but apparently the script I wrote up wasn't the story? It's terribly confusing, all I did was script up the scenes that we as a story team wrote up. I honestly thought that it was the story. Anyway. There's miscommunication throughout the whole project team, really. Something we should work on, I guess. It's gone through various changes after input from various different people. I still think it should be the students' project, and the students' decision as to what the story involves and when things happen, because really, it's Friday night and I'm still working on drafts. The final was due this morning. Seriously, it is not on to want to make changes after the final was due, even if you are the tutor. Why would anyone set deadlines then completely ignore them?? What sort of impression does that make? I just don't get it. Students'. Project. I'm sorry, but that's just my opinion. Grrrr.
*Breathe, Kimberley*
My blog is my blog. If you don't like it, tough.
Good evening beautiful people, please, pour yourself a cup of tea and make yourself comfortable. This is where I'll be rambling on about several things film (but not all), so for those who are that way inclined, do enjoy your stay.

Year 3 is InSaNe
Hello fun chums. How have you been. I have been busy. This year is the third year of my course, and I can say that if I thought second year was busy, third year is even busier. So much for the rumour I heard in year one where year three is really laid back. But I guess it's how you look at things. What have I been up to?
My first class of the week is Media Culture. Sally's wonderful snappy lessons. At the moment there's a whole lot of Frozen going on. Yeap. Frozen. The songs get stuck in our heads and then we go and annoy everybody around us by singing them. Heh heh heh. Last week we touched upon postmodernsim. Of course, that's a big topic, but I reckon Sally managed to condense the general overview well enough to give those who've not had the enjoyment of studying that topic an idea of what it involves. We've also been looking at parody, and our homework this week was to apparently find the best/worst parody of Frozen. I have found one I quite like. Behold.
After Media Culture I have been taking a first aid course. I have to get a first aid certificate if I wish to have internships this year. It's ....interesting.... Most of it's common sense, really, but you know, there's some stuff in there that might come in handy if people are dying. Just remember to not squeeze the baby too hard. Why would a baby be on set? Where are the medical professionals? Why are they trusting students to be the medical staff?? WHAT IS GOING ON?
Tuesdays I have my elective class Photography. Being a BAMA course, we have to write journels. Ummm... I like photography as a hobby, and it's great having all these things being refreshed in my mind. It's a fun class. Kevin's a cool as tutor. I can't quite remember what we are up to at the moment but I remember thinking about what our photo projects will involve. I think I wanted mine to have something to do with a forgotten childhood.
Tuesday evenings is mine and Anna's new radio show Alternation, which airs between 6pm and 7pm every Tuesday. It's a load of fun making the show, and it's not really as technical and confusing as it might seem. Everybody should have a radio show. Student takeover hahahahahahhaha.
Wednesday afternoons and Thursday mornings I have research. I went into this paper quite nervous as I really did not understand anything of what is to be expected for it. But my tutor Rachel is brilliant, as she's made all these little powerpoints and really makes us understand what is going on, it's so good. So now I'm not freaking out so much. I've learnt about abstracts and the format for this thing I'm gonna write. You wouldn't think I have, but I have. This class man. SO UNFOCUSED AND DISTRACTING. Hah hah hah hah. But it's how we chill, man, it's how we work together, we've just known each other for so long, hah.
Thursday and Friday afternoons I have my classtime for the combined project with the animators. This is very interesting. Right now we are nnneeeeaaarrrrllllllyyyyy finished the final script. There's been a bit of miscommunication going around though. Yesterday we turned up to class to present different ideas that the script team indiviually wrote up. What we got in return was a bit of scolding from tutors saying that the idea we pitched originally was way better. I got the impression that it wasn't any good, so we worked on coming up with our own ideas instead. Oh well. The past couple of days the team have been developing the original idea into something that we hope the tutors like. But the thing I don't understand, is that this project is the students' project, so why are the tutors trying to steer us into their direction? We should just stick with our own idea, really. I like what we've got so far. I think it's great. And if it's not, tough, it's still the students' project. This project involves a loooooooot of outside hours. At 4:30 today the script team finally mashed all of this together into a solid story. So now it's my job to turn that into story into a physical script. I worked on it a bit this evening, writing down key points and formulating a structure of the story of which I can understand (and probably only I) better for me to start putting it together into a sweet, sweet Courier 12 fonted script, which I shall do tomorrow evening when I pick it back up after helping out the casting call all day Saturday and Sunday. I'm a bit worried that I will not be able to create this script as visually readable and flowing as I would like because of my very limited hours in which I have to do this. They want it on Monday. I really only have Sat and Sun evenings to do this. But I'll be able to pull though. It's only a draft. heh... And there's the whole thing where it might get canned. But I'm trying not to think about that.
Yeah. Moving on.
I have a very weird paper this semester. It's invisible. I don't have any class hours for it. But it still exists. My Professional Practices paper. It's my internship thing. I don't reeeallllyyyyy understand what this involves. We had a lovely lady from Pete's Dragon come and talk with us a wee while ago, about what we could help them with. Sounds marvelous. Of course, I'd do anything for this internship. One of my assignments for this class involves writing a proposal and I'm not sure what I have to write for that. I spoke with Dan this afternoon and he cleared it up a bit. I'm hoping to find time to speak to Patrick about it too, Maybe he can help.
In other news, Dan is our director for this combined project. I'm quite happy that he is as I believe he has a solid way of directing, and his films are really starting to become quite good. We've all grown as we've gone through this course, and it's really interesting to see my classmates start to create such professional things.
I've also been getting trained up on the Sony F3 camera. It's rather fancy. It's taken up a few of my Friday mornings, but it's all good fun. When I'm fully certified (which I think might be now... um) I shall get it out and play with it and people can't judge me because I am having fun and that's all that matter, so yeeeaahhh. I shall make a cute little film for all my friends. I don't care about technical things so much as the story is cute and makes people laugh. That's all that really matters.
I must leave you now, fun chums. My head is hitting my desk as it attempts to tell me it needs sleep. I did not sleep last night. Insomnia. I seem to recall a thing called a "sleep in"? But I cannot remember what it is.
Help me I am writing all formal why do I do this grrr arrghh
