Fungi Music Video Shoot.

Today was the day that the music video for Fungi's song "My Friend" was shot. A bunch of us film students from the Southern Institute of Technology helped out making the video. We were scattered around in different departments. I was helping out with "art department" with a few others from my class. Other coursemates of mine were helping with grip, gaff, camera, security, dog watcher etc. Really though, it was way laid back, there wasn't really any of the hierarchical happenings that you can get on a lot of different shoots, so we all just helped out wherever we could. At some point, we were all security XD. Scott Kennedy was the director, he's a pretty neat dude. And Josh Wallace, he's pretty awesome as a DoP. They were the first people I met when I first arrived on set at 8am. Really friendly. We met some more crew. Shortly afterwards I helped put together a phone booth for the shoot. The band members are great people. Fungi are made up of Shay Muddle, Tim Skedden, Will Scott, and Jason Kerrison. Shay's dog Indy is a really cool dog :)

Even though it was a FREEZING DAY, and I spent most of it shivering and trying to stand awkwardly close to people for warmth, it was a day that I am glad I got to experience. For the most part, we got to simply observe, and look after gear. Thanks for shouting us food, Shay :D

Memorable moments were sharing a single cookie with everyone: band, crew and actors alike. A group hug with Fungi. Fun times.

Here's some photos:

This is Indy!! Indy seems to be really used to people. And she can shake paws!

There are people on the roof. For this particular scene they wanted a higher angle, so up there they go...

Kids banging on the door.

All of us banging on the door!! Random members of the public were encouraged to appear in the music video, as part of a crowd. One group of teenage girls almost wet themselves when the DoP went up and asked them if they wanted to be in a music video, haha.

Mayor Tim! He's also in the music video! Everyone's in the music video!!

Yes, a great day had by all.

  1. That's hilarious about trying to stand awkwardly close to people for warmth! Good thing that you are with classmates and friends. Doing it with strangers would make a hilarious Mr Bean episode etc. Thanks, Kimberley.
